I had so many legal and financial issues when I arrived at Colette's Children's Home. I was unsure where to go and where to begin, and I had exhausted any and all resources for help from my family. Four days before my exit date from another program, I was given the phone number to Colette's Children's Home. I was asked to come into the office and fill out some paperwork and do an interview. Initially, I spoke with Lisa, who listened to my whole story and seemed genuinely concerned for my well being. She thanked me for being completely honest, and said I would be getting a call in a few days notifying me whether or not I was accepted into the program.

Being accepted at Colette's has provided a safe, comfortable apartment for my daughter and me to be reunified after 3 years. I was able to seek and obtain full-time employment to provide for my family. I was able to complete classes required by the courts to obtain my driver's license. Most importantly, my daughter and I have a closer relationship than ever before.

Colette's gave us the opportunity to focus on what's important to us, and to prepare us for independent living. Through case management, I was able to talk about my concerns and fears and was given solutions to better manage my life and make better decisions. Life skills provided useful tools and education that allowed me to develop a better relationship with my daughter and within myself. I will forever be grateful for the tremendous impact Colette's has had on my life.
