I was struggling with homelessness. My children and I were going to local parks to clean ourselves and sleeping in my Dodge caravan. We were going to local churches for lunch sacks and gas vouchers. In all this, I turned to alcohol to cope, as I was stressed, depressed, and confused on what to do to become stable again. I lost my job, my apartment, and almost my sanity. The day came when social services took my 2 beautiful daughters away from me. Ultimately, I think it was the best thing for me because I met another resident from Colette's who opened up a door and referred me to Colette's Children's Home.

As soon as I was accepted by Colette's, my whole life turned for the better and there I was able to get my children back. I learned skills that I had lost, and am now able to keep my sobriety to live a better life. I got my office job back, and I was able to save money to buy my own vehicle, which made it easier for me and my children to get around to our appointments. I learned how to parent better and communicate with others in a reasonable manner. I am also now able to budget wisely.

I am so grateful and will always be grateful to Colette's Children's Home for saving me and my children from the streets we were struggling to live in. Colette's is the best experience I had and still come by to visit all the beautiful people that made a big difference in our lives. I do recommend Colette's to other women whom I feel are in serious need of having support and working their way up to being independent to strive to get their own home, job, and family.
